The tool you bought that proved a revelation ??
Re: The tool you bought that proved a revelation ??
My workmate has gone to recycling. Metal into the skip, and the wood cut up and turned into hot water.
Bought one of these last week.

Not that one specifically, but you get the idea.
I bought it from a DIY shop.
Absolutely great for holding stuff on a table/bench/rail/seat.

Yes. They're fast to clamp and release and very useful for many small jobs.

Hi,
You saying that you found little use for the workmate so you got rid...........
I find it ideal for holding heavy objects like engines and m'cycle frames

On the matter of clamps, I find these very very useful (Wolfcraft FZ 60 Spring Clamp many different sizes made but I find the FZ60 really useful)

Hi,
Especially considering it folds to go in your boot
Too versatile a tool to dispose of as far as I'm concerned.iandusud wrote: ↑9 May 2022, 7:58amI even once had an Austin 1750 engine complete with gearbox on mine.NATURAL ANKLING wrote: ↑8 May 2022, 11:57pm Hi,

Re: The tool you bought that proved a revelation ??
Bought so far back that I can't remember when, probably pre 2000, my Topeak Joe Blow track pump was my first track pump and because of its durability and spare parts availability it has been my only track pump. Prior to buying it I had resisted buying a full sized track pump because you can't take them on rides. That meant they were of limited use, I thought. But when I got it I instantly realised what I had been missing. Most pumping is done at home, replacing tyres and topping up. And the full sized track pump is just so much easier to use than a portable pump. As the years have gone by the pump has remained excellent, requiring only a replacement hose and a new head after about 15 years. Its metal body and foot have proved robust and reliable, and it still gets tyres up to pressure in no time at all. My one slight regret is that I didn't buy this sort of pump ten years earlier.
(I am sure other track pumps with well made metal bodies work just as well, so I am celebrating this type of pump rather than a specific brand or model).

I have a pair of plastic folding trestles/sawhorses similar to these:- https://www.screwfix.com/p/stanley-fold ... pack/7078f
They have been used and abused beyond belief over the 20+ years I've been using them, unbelievably strong and functional and can be left out in all weathers without deteriating or rusting.
Great bit of kit.

Been there, done that, and you are completely correct!NATURAL ANKLING wrote: ↑8 May 2022, 11:57pm Hi,

It's been a few years since I needed an engine-lift or somewhere to dismantle one.
My B+D WM was used and used and used, but not for years and years ........... so it had to go, but no-one wanted it.

Stop it!
Moulton will go first.
Sadly, not been riding any bike for weeks. Mrs Mick F is away, and I'm walking the lively Border Collie. Cycling has to take a back seat behind dog walking, domestic chores, shopping, gardening, etc etc.
She's not due back until the end of this month ............ a month late as she should have been home 20th April.

Hi,
This, doubles as a ladder but makes a perfect work bench
Had mine probably 25 years and it lives out side all weathers and still performs.
Made a wooden tray to stop bits dropping on to floor and have a wood chopping block to cut wood which fits on top.
Ideal height for sawing etc.
This is the model I have- Old ladder now discontinued-
https://www.onlinediystore.co.uk/abru-m ... 4155-p.asp
Buts been replaced with this which is I think not as good with plastic platform plates - New one-
