I don't have anything to add to the original post, but was interested in the thread and this comment caught my eye,

I've pretty much been on the same pair of communting tires for 5 years. i don't use the same bike every day but would estimate 10-12000kms on them. They were the OEM Kenda 32mm and had pretty thick tread, i planned to change them but quite liked them and the just kept going - until this month. both punctured, when i refitted them they were a bit loose on the rim and the sidewalls bulging a bit, i immediately retired them. NHS doesn't need me adding to their list.

I got two new tires Vee Road Runners 30mm. Very nice, got a puncture within a week of so. Then pottholed the other one a week later and tore the side open. So while i wait for the replacement. I stuck my road tires on (28mm Panaracer Race EVO 4 D). Had a punctures in both on Monday and took the hint, So i'm on my 29er today, big WTB 2.2 tires never used it for the commnute before, but it does rough singletrack. another puncture. 6 punctures caused in 6 different tyres this year, 3 this week, The photo below took the WTB out today,

They have all happened in the same sort of place, in the morning, with flints like the photo, I've never had a big problem with winter punctures before, but my commute has changed and i go through a pedestrian area at around 0630, and while its dark and i can't see much it does feel gritty, i'm assuming after seeing your comment that these could be from the salt that is spread?

that's some properly bad luck regards punctures, that bit of stone should be nowhere near a gritter, I run my tyres faitly high compared to some, 32mm rear on my daily is 80psi, just swapped out to vittoria hypers after years on Specialized Borough Pros but simply wore them out as opposed to cut based or delamination issues. I also run the front 28mm (Giant wire bead) at 80psi also.

The rippling of the continental I'd deffo be sending it back to the shop, that's not normal for a tyre that is nowhere near even a 1/3 worn.
