On my list of little tasks is an update to the bike I've been meaning to do for a while.
I have a Large D-Lock I carry with me for locking the bike up in London. I've modified my rack by adding a tube (electrical conduit) into which one "arm" of my D-Lock can slide, the second arm is prevented from moving by the Dutch triple elastic hook I have. I then attach the locking mechanism and the D-Lock is held securely in place behind the rack.
I'm saving towards getting a new touring bike, and would quite like to make the installation a) more permanent, b) look like it's meant to be there.
Does anyone know of a rack with built in holder for a D-Lock? Or can recommend a lock to which a couple of fittings could be brazed or welded?

I use a Abus Granite X Plus 540:

It's the one which seems to get the "took the longest to get off" prize in most of the tests. Weighs a lot.
Anyway, comes with a clamp for the frame, which is on the bike all the time. I don't often cycle with the lock, but when I do it goes on very easily, and comes off very easily, but also feels as though it's held very securely. I would never advocate unprovoked physical violence, but it would be possible to get this off the frame super quick if you ever needed a heavy object to use as a weapon in self defence. Is a thought that has sometimes crossed my mind.
In the past I've always cycled with long MTB trousers on (even though it's a road bike), and there's a very slight but of rub. More occasional catch, really. It might get annoying on a 50 mile trip. I might try it with cycling tights soon, now I've got some. I'll report back.
Anyway, here's some pics of it in place. Very neat. I think it can be positioned in a few places, Abus do different types of mount.

Re: D-Lock Support
There is Abus UGH 02 rack mount: https://www.bike-components.de/en/ABUS/UGH-02-Universal-Rack-Mount-p28368/. The older Abus rack mount GH50 may be still somewhere there in the pipeline.
Re: D-Lock Support
That looks the very thing.
Although I've got my D-Lock mounted on the inside of the rack. Will check it out.

Re: D-Lock Support
Keep an eye out for a Tubus locc. Unfortunately discontinued but maybe one will turn up second hand sometime. The lock fitting is very secure but needs a little padding not to rattle. I don't use mine with a lock. An old design that is heavier yet less rigid than later models due to less pronounced triangulation of the struts (although still rigid by most rack standards). It also has a big and wide top platform.
Re: D-Lock Support
If you are locking it in the same place each time can you leave a lock there?
The older I get the more I’m inclined to act my shoe size, not my age.
Re: D-Lock Support
If and when I have to carry a chunky lock I pop it in whatever pannier I happen to be taking with me. I have never considered that a problem.
