Recommend a cycle camera ( update : Garmin VIRB 30 ultra FAILED )

After ( yet another ) ridiculous manoeuvre from a brain dead Moton, nearly caused an off for me yesterday, I’ve decided it’s time to invest in a cycle cam. Does anyone know of any particularly good ones?

I have the sj4000, well I have three of them, they are a go pro copy, but make sure you are buying a genuine sj4000 as there are copies of that as well.
Good footage and clear number plate recognition, night time not so good.

I had a look at those on a couple of cycle shop websites. I presume one is rear facing ( red light )and one is front facing ( white light ) and you can’t do both with one?

Those look nice. My bars are a bit full, but I've got 50mm of spacers on the steerer, so loads of room there. It doesn't look like Cycliq do a spacer type mount themselves, but do they use some sort of "universal" mount, that there might be a steerer mount for?

The earlier Fly 6 (Gen 1) can be used with the light switched off; there is a single, small LED that orbits the lens to show video operation so you could use two Fly 6, one at the front. I masked the red parts of the lamp with tape and just left the lens visible if you'd prefer belt and braces. The Fly 12 gen 1 (front) doesn't have such a good battery life IME even without the lamp being on. I don't have experience of the gen 2 cameras

Mine is one of the older models, it can use a go pro mount. I'm not sure about the new ones

What were the issues?
I'd be looking at sub-2hour rides on road, so no need for massive battery life or off-road vibration protection, but I would want good images.

I get some quite good results from a DJI Osmo Action that I got on a Black Friday deal last year.

Most Action Cameras require 2 addons - a decent microphone if you don't just want wind noise and a set of ND filters to tame the ridiculous shutter speeds.

Out of the box with a fixed aperture you might get 1/1000 which gives poor motion rendition and far too many aliases for a video encoder to deal with. Stick a decent ND filter on and you can get down to something manageable.

My only complaint is that, like most Action Cameras, it's far too saturated.
