Ultegra 68000 hub flange diameter

Post by David9694 »

I was looking for measurements of these on-line ahead of a purchase - accurate information seemed hard to find, so now they’ve arrived, I’ve put the micrometer on them For the general good..

The Edd spoke length calculator has been my guide up to now but it doesn’t have the 6800, only the 6700.

The 6800 rear measures 45mm as Edd says. The front is 40.5mm (38mm says Edd for the 6700).

Just to be clear, I’m measuring between the centres of two opposing spoke holes. I’ve already ordered the spokes Edd suggests for the rims I’m using, so I guess we’ll see when I try to put it all together.

you can submit the measurements for HB-6800 and FH-6800 to Edd using their online form, if you like. They are listed in shimano's specifications, but having them in the spoke calculator is handiest.

cheers

Thanks - no front 6800 on this very useful site.

If you drill down to the:

  • ROAD > FREEHUB
  • ROAD > Front Hub
… sections of the Shimano specifications page, you’ll find hub geometry info in the strange format that Shimano provides it: flange spacing over the outside of the flanges and an “offset” figure that shows how far the centre of the flanges is off the centre of the OLN span. Plus the flange hole PCD (pitch circle diameter).

That says the FH-6800 flanges have 44/45 mm left/right PCDs while the HB-6800 PCD is 40 mm on both sides.

The archive has convenient PDF downloads of specifications from previous years (old products).
