Or you can have these,
http://most-expensive.com/bicycle-wheelsand customise them - at a cool £15,000 ish. With a bit of searching the cranks, derailleur, sprockets, headset bearings etc etc can all be upgraded, with a (rough) cost of another £15000+.
So, keep the frame, and upgrade the rest for 'only' £30,000. That would be some bike, and the performance would be awesome if you equate cost to performance (removes tongue from cheek)

Rim brakes, they’re no good to me.

That’s up to you, I couldn’t give a tinker’s really, unless you’ve got any sensible suggestions.

Now those are gorgeous, seriously right up my street. The article mentions the bike fleetingly, but what is it?

Passoni Fidia. Not very expensive though. You certainly wouldn't need to increase production from the oil well in your back garden...

Brucey wrote:unless you are actually racing (in which case 'performance is King'), probably it is mostly a pose to have expensive wheels. Whether they are actually any good or not is entirely secondary to how much they cost, and how big the stickers are on them that say so.
FWIW routinely riding around on deep section rims is a pretty dumb idea IMHO; at best the benefits are slight and if it is at all windy you are likely to both
a) get no advantage (in fact you may go slower) and
b) be a hazard to yourself and others; no bike steers better with such wheels fitted, not when it is windy.
Oh the joys of kit like that...smashing fun!.....a single pothole can cost the price of the wheelset!
cheers
what utter twaddle, people buy stuff they want because they like the look of something and it makes them feel good which equals more enjoyment from riding and because they can afford it.
I bought Campag Bora's because they match the frame I had and I like the look of them, I don't care what other people think, it's not their bike it's mine. To me they look great and I enjoy looking at it from an aesthetic POV, I enjoy riding the bike with them on. Maybe they allow me to go a bit faster for same effort compared to other wheels, I don't know because I don't care and I don't measure with/without.
Are they for posing, no, most people who are not racing despite your comment are not posing.
oh and as for potholes, I hit this at 25mph a couple of weeks ago, the 25mm tyre and carbon rim were unmoved/undamaged even if the rider felt a huge jolt. If you had any understanding of carbon you might actually grasp that carbon can be far more resilient to impacts, to forces acting against it than steel and alu alloys, in instances where steel or alu alloys are damaged and damaged to the point of failure, carbon can simply be unaffected and continue to carry on doing its job as before, in some scenarios thus carbon is safer than other materials on a cycle including frame, forks and wheels, handlebars.

If you want off the shelf and something a bit out the ordinary then Corima's MCC DX wheels are quite interesting,
https://www.bikeradar.com/news/corima-mcc-dx-wheels/Corima make some absolutely belting wheels, if the Bora's hadn't come along at the price I got them for which was ridiculous for new, I would have ordered a pair of rims direct drilled to my exact requirements and fitted them on the carbon axled/carbon shell high end Italian made hubs and had a sub 1100g 47mm wheelset

I’ve never heard of those, but they do look pretty good. I might have to investigate. They’re right in the middle of my acceptable price window too. They might well be what I go with. Let’s hope they become available when they are expected. Italian bike, with French wheels, that’s interesting.

(….drone, blah, more tripe.....)
….But crack on with your usual rant.
My point was - and maybe I didn't make it clearly enough- was that
any wheels can be wrecked in a pothole, and many such wheelsets are effectively not repairable. The notion that it is a good idea to ride around on the UK's 'moonscape masquerading as a road network' on anything like that is highly questionable.
If such wheels are properly designed they are meant for competition use only, in the hands of riders who get worried if they ever tip the scales at 70kg. However mostly they appear to be bought by wobbly weekend wannabes who are mostly more, uh, substantial, ostensibly for the reasons you describe, more often actually for the same reasons as middle-aged blokes buy sports cars with Carlos Fandango wheels etc. Who cares if you exceed the manufacturer's weight limit.... -if you manage to get as far as the caff and back it is 'job done!'
Were not the fact that they make so much bloody noise you wouldn't know the difference with your eyes closed.
If buying expensive wheelsets makes you happy then fine, go ahead. Just don't examine your underlying motivations too hard; you might be disappointed.
cheers

Evidently, you
do care what people think, otherwise you would not have responded in such an 'outraged' manner, to Brucey's perfectly reasonable opinions.

Ironic, considering the rant you've just been on...

What about a pair of large flange Curtis Odom hubs? you could even get them custom-made with your design of cutouts!
