in some cases it already has. In my one time favoured training rim CXP22, latterly 'CXP elite' they have variously come with
- made in France
- made in Taiwan
- made in Romania
writ upon them in recent years.
cheers
I gather you are not so keen on them these days brucey due to reduced braking surface thickness.
If they were your favoured rim, have you found a good alternative.
(I recently acquired two 22s, made in france i am pretty sure) from an ebay seller for a planned rerim)

You sound very mechanically experienced and able. Can I ask why you are now so dependent on the bike shop for fixing so much stuff?

in the road cc article it says
….Yesterday, however, it emerged that the company had this week entered a process called redressement judiciaire, under which a court appoints a receiver who, working with management, seeks to maximise returns to creditors.
In Mavic’s case, six months have been granted for the process, which is the final one available to try and rescue a failing company, to be completed.
The options, at the end of that, are stark. One is to repay the debts and agree a business plan going forward – difficult at the best of times, let alone when the coronavirus pandemic is set cause a global economic crisis. Otherwise, if no buyer for the business can be found, whatever assets it has will be liquidated....
so mavic is down but not yet out. In six month's time we may be reading the last rites if the business can't be rescued.
cheers

One of the "assets" that can be sold off is the brand. I have no doubt that the brand name will be around in the future, but what it will be stuck on is anyone's guess.

Last few Mavic rims I've had have had ridiculously thin braking surfaces (e.g 1mm when new) which put me off them slightly. Not a patch on what they used to make say 20 years ago.
The Aksium wheelset I bought about 10y ago has given very good service though.
It's a pity they're in trouble but I can't help thinking they have been complicit in their own demise....

Good. Needed a true after first 150 miles, but fine since. Not so much heavy, but does have the Hann trailer attached for the son on occasions. At which point I put front panniers on the low rider.
Yes, well be sticking with them. Solid.
