So I was quite pleased to actually get a letter this morning together with the new membership card and asking for my renewal fee.

Last year it took me about 3 months to get my membership renew and much pussyfooting around by telephone, mail and on these boards.

So I detached the card from the letter and signed it. I was just putting it into my card wallet when I noticed that it was :-

"Valid until 01/11/2004 "

It is also still a useless overprinting on the card so that all the relevant information rubs off -- especially if it gets at all wet. And by wet I mean just a sweaty finger print!
After 6 months in this last year my card was totally obliterated and I recoursed to the scrap of paper that I had used in the previous year when I had no card at all!

Come on CTC get the act together

I rang the 0061 number to be gaily asked if I wanted to renew my membership and I explained the problem!!

yes i got my membership renewal letter/card too. the usual manky printing on the card, which won't last ten minutes in a damp wallet on a wet camping trip but at least my dates were right

I had a problem with renewing my Direct Debit last time and the print coming off my membership card, the Direct Debit got sorted and I just stuck Cellotape over the card, as suggested by another member. I wouldn't condemn the CTC for a couple of minor Hic-cups, there really isn't any comparible organisation in the UK, or perhaps the World, who look after all cyclists interests. Where would we be now without the CTC?Personally I think I get good value for my money.
