A stalwart of the York rally oft seen at the head of the rally parade in period costume on high ordinary and later clearing up the rally ground back in normal dress. A good friend of mine for almost 22 years having met him and his daughter Charlotte on Warwick Birthday rides. In recent years he also been a runner and has completed the london marathon more than once.

Sadly Peter lost his fight with pancreatic cancer early this morning. Wife and daughter were with him and he had smile on his face when he went. Hopefully he is now riding his bike in the paradise of his fave med island, in sunshine and with a tailwind.

I remember Peter (Thumper) well from the late 1950's when we often rode together with the Cambridge D.A. Other members also remember him and will be saddened by his loss. Our thoughts are with his family.

A short ride to the crematorium will depart at 12.30 pm from under the footbridge on Racecourse Road, which runs between the rear of the Racecourse grandstand, and the adjacent former Terry's factory.

Setting up for York Cycle Show will have commenced that same morning on the nearby Knavesmire, and the team will either be joining the ride or travelling independently to the service.

Thanks for that, charlotte did say she was to send further details, but hasn't so far and I wondered if there would be a ride, it would be fitting to arrive by bike, what car parking is there around that area?
