Any thoughts on lightweight slip on type shoes for wearing at the end of the day around the tent?
I have crocs but looking for other ideas.
Thanks folks.

I use my running shoes, they're those ones with almost no cushioning so their sole is very thin.
Mine are New Balance, but there are Vivo Barefoot or similar, I suppose there are cheap copies, too.

Although they have laces, they're snug fit so this becomes less of a problem.
They pack very small and light, so I carry them in many situations where a spare set of shoes can be welcome. I use their own laces to bundle them tight together.

We use sandals: no problem if they get wet, and very useful in washrooms, showers, rivers, lakes etc.

And if the insects insist then socks with sandals!

Water shoes would do it.

Pricey mind. Likely the royalties to Polly

Stick with Crocs, or Croc-a-likes (eg Aldi / Lidl). Light and water-proof (think less-than-spotless showers and beaches), tough enough to cycle in now and then and do the pub walk. Just closed enough to avoid the bare-foot look that means you can get away with wearing them round museums and restaurants, if you care about that sort of thing.
Some folk swear by flip-flops & sports sandals, but Crocs have an excellent combination of qualities that suit me.

Etnies Scout are what I take on tour. Very light but strong enough for walking, hiking and running, and look smart for casual-wear.

i've tried all sorts over the last mumble mumble years, at the moment i'm back to 'walking' sandals - i often take a several km walk in the evenings and they work for travelling as well when bike shoes can be not so good.

In the past i've used light weight Nike runners, 'foam' beach shoes and pool shoes. They all fell out of favour for one reasion or another, the runners had a tendency to pong, the beach shoes weren't much good for actual walking beyond the campsite and the pool shoes were too bulky and heavy.

If you just want something around the tent area though, i've got some £3 Ikea bathroom slippers which take no space, weigh sod all and are comfy enough for that trip to the showers in the dead of night. Oh and they wash/dry pretty well too.

Wanting something light, packable and less of a worry in wet conditions, I settled on two different solutions:

Pool shoes that can be picked up the Bay of 'e' and elsewhere for about £6

Huarache sandals that I cobbled together

Very packable and there's plenty of videos on Youtube showing how to make/tie them.

Search Google for tent or hut booties if you're after warmth rather than walking around. They don't have a hard sole in sense of the word that even the thinnest pair of sandals have, but all have a hardwearing bottom to give some toughness. The better ones are have a DWR coating so you can walk on snow or the genral dampness of grass doesn't soak them straight away.
