A couple to try are maybe:

http://www.donau-radweg.info/startpage.html

http://www.tiscover.at/at/guide/50099at ... /acco.html

The second is a good listing for the Austrian Danube and has an "English" button if you need it.

You can download up to date maps and accommodation lists from http://www.donauradweg.at/ .

The bikeline guides also have lists of accommodation and the Austrian Tourist office will send you info if you ask.

I did the simple thing - decided roughly where I was going to stay and then searched for the town + campsite (zeltplatz/zelt/Camp).

I have camped along other rivers in Germany in August and found the campsites very full at weekends but otherwise ok. (the Weser, Neckar and the Elbe are not quite as busy as the Danube but still popular). Many of the campsites do not accept reservations.

Have just returned from two week ride (nearly 800 miles) from Tuttlingen to Bratislava, staying mostly in hostels. Excellent ride with a suprising number of hills for a river route! Lovely scenery & interesting towns & villages.Lots of other family groups around too.
We flew easyjet from Liverpool to Basle , then train to Tuttlingen. Returned from Bratislava with Sky Europe to Manchester. No problem with bikes in standard heavy guage polythene bags. Highly recommended.

Hi Ratty,

Thanks for the additional info. We have two options of when to go now, one of which would be last two weeks of July and first week of August and the other option would be to dealy it a bit and go end August begining of September or possibly even push it back in begining of September. Do you think it would be better easier in September as regards finding accomodation/camp sites?

Thanks
