Discount clothing retailers online

Post by tk72tk »

Has anyone used any of these or can offer any advice on where else to try. Some of the prices seem to good to be true. So has anyone had any experience with any before I start ordering

I've used bikediscount.de and Sport Pursuit. Fulfilment is from Continental Europe so delivery is typically a bit longer and shipping charges higher, but no problems with either.

I get a daily e-mail from Sport Pursuit and they do have some real bargains, but I’ve yet to buy anything from them, that’s probably because I’m an unusual size for cycle clothing and I have too much already.

A few months ago they were selling Elite Direto direct drive turbo trainers for just over £500, which was way cheaper than anywhere else. I’ve noticed their pricing is quite fluid though. I’ve seen things I fancied buying, delayed for a few days, then noticed the price had gone up. An example recently was a Garmin Edge 25 GPS computer. It was on offer at £49.95, but by the time I’d got around to ordering, it had gone up to £69.95, so I didn’t bother, but they are around £100 elsewhere, so still a bargain.

I've used SportPursuit several times and they're fine, but watch the delivery dates. Some items are available straight away (marked with a little lorry icon in the listings) while others may require you to wait several weeks for delivery. Also the prices may look good, but as they're often on manufacturers' discontinued lines you can sometimes find the same or better prices elsewhere. They do offer a price guarantee though. I've had to return a few items (one faulty, two where the sizing information given was drastically wrong) and the refunds have been issued promptly with no quibbling.

Bike Bargains isn't a shop at all, simply a referral site to other shops' deals. Click on "View this deal" next to an item and you'll be redirected to someone else's store. Presumably Bike Bargains gets a referral fee. To be honest the amateurish, knocked-together look of the site puts me off straight away.

I think I used to work with one on Sport Pursuit's founders, in a previous life.

Some of the lines are bulk ordered from manufacturers with the order only completing once they get a certain number of payments in. That's how they get such a discount, by promising say 5000 orders.

Bike-discount and PlanetX are good. Rose are also good.
