Aheadset

Having stripped the Aheadset; indications being Tange manufactured model Seiki, on my Cannondale aluminium framed Synapse for the first time to inspect the cartridge bearings it appeared that the factory applied lubricant used was a gel. Having no similar lubricant available I had no alternative but to re-lube with my usual white grease, at least for the short term. Is a more specialised lubricant required and if so what and were from?
Keep well and keep riding.

probably the grease you put in is better than the original stuff. IME it wouldn't have to be very good to manage that.
Could you do better yet? Probably.
IME all headsets suffer water ingress from the bottom on mudguardless bikes and Aheadsets suffer water ingress from the top (via the stem and steerer) more often than they should if the bike is used in all weathers, mudguards or not.
The grease quality required is contingent on the conditions of use and frequency of maintenance.
