Bike ride to Brighton

Post by AlanD »

A few of us (82 at last count) are having a little ride down to Brighton on Sunday, we are an 'AWESOME TEAM' and our start time is 7:30, so if anyone happens to see us, do come and say hello. I'm on the light blue Dyna Tech. Well time to go home now. Whatever you're doing this weekend, go safely.

Well what memories can I share about this year's London to Brighton?
There was the sights of so many people turning it into a fun event by what they wore:
Man in pink lycra.
Man taking Rupert Bear for a ride.
Men in pink bra's.
The 'Epsom Nags', the 'SAS - Sore <rude word> Society' and the 'Emergency Call Girls'.
Then there was the wide assortment of helmet adornments, did a bit myself there.

The most 'gobsmacked' award goes to the cyclist who I saw riding up the hard shoulder of the motorway, yes, motorway! :o  towards the M25 afterwards. And my camera was in the back, Drat!

Nearly as mad were the cyclists who were apparently doing the ride both ways ... following the exact same route home! Especially dodgy when they were riding uphill on the fully-closed roads with cyclists flying down at 40-50mph towards them.

All power to them for cycling both ways (I couldn't even begin to contemplate it), but a parallel route would have been much more sensible.
