Shimano Cranks

Post by Tom »

Good evening all
Can anyone assist please,
I have a Shimano XT Deore 9 speed model FD 770 Chain Set on my bike I am finding it difficult to find much details with the retailers to supply complete chain sets or components these days so presume have been super - seeded.
Does anyone happen to know by which one, and are the X T range of cranks made in sizes of 160 and 165 mm length please.

Regards Tom.

a XT-770 chainset would have the model identity FC-M770 or similar. These are now obsolete but if you are going to search for NOS or good used, it surely helps to use the correct model numbers/part numbers.

These are the current models of Shimano MTB cranks: https://bike.shimano.com/en-EU/components/mtb/category/crankset.html.

I don't think Shimano ever made any of their MTB cranks in 160mm. XTR and Deore XT certainly come in 165mm, as I have both XTR M900 and XT M780 in that length, but the cheaper models only seem to come in 170/175mm lengths.

For 160mm length you'll need to look elsewhere - eg Sugino, TA.
