I also derived a great amount entertainment and amusement over the speculative discussions concerning the efficiencies or otherwise of marine propulsion machinery and the marine industry as a whole. Please, please, please can we have more threads of this type makes my day.

You only joined in 2017 - there are dozens of such threads obscured by time you could knock yourself out with.

My personal favourite is the flat earth thread. I occasionally like to pick a random page and read it, mind you I love watching conspiracy vids on YouTube so I might be alone there...

Absolutely! :D :D

My personal favourite is the flat earth thread.
That was a cracker, but the best one ever by far, and never been surpassed was the Primus Stove thread.

Trouble is, it was in the For Sale pages and long-since auto-deleted.

I do like the non-sensical assumptions and statements. In the above somewhere (I don't really have the time or inclination to wade back through for a link) indicated that a commercial ship's CO2 pollution is 1,000,000 times that a day of your "average" car, hmmmmmmm. However if we consider that a large ship (VLCC or ULCC) is moving 5,000,000 times as much "cargo" as the average car they are in fact 80% more thermally efficient. Oh no, I have done it, I have fallen into the self opinionated T%*T trap LOL. Having been at sea for a number of years the Earth is obviously flat, or I would have fallen off the bottom somewhere beyond the alleged equator.
