Men's problems

Post by chiefsub68 »

I'm aged 45 and ride roughly seven miles a day. Nothing strenuous, and no apparent snags till about 18 months ago, when I started to have problems with urine flow. I'm told I'm clear of cancer (phew!) and my prostate is just slightly oversize, in fact, insufficiently different to be causing my problem. The hospital has put me on tablets to regulate urine flow while tests drag on. Another symptom is that my right testicle has shrunk. Could all of this be anything to do with regular cycling? I did ask my consultant, but he grunted and that was it! Any views from medics (or anyone who has suffered something similar)? Anyone wanting to contact me off-list can do so at robert.conway@mac.com

problems with urine flow.

Have you measured your water intake exactly, and compared it with the outflow, or are you saying thatit is difficult? (which may still be due to low water intake compared with previously)

If not do so and see how you get on with measuring.

Also are you in the habit of measuring the SIZE of your testicles, and does it matter as long as they work properly?

One hears so many stories of serious incontinence caused by prostate operations gone wrong, even in young men in their 60s, that one shudders at the thought.

Hm Yes Also get some leather inset shorts if you don't have any, for groin comfort. Even 7 miles can be unpleasant with a pair of jeans on... even 1 mile.

Hmm

Slightiy enlarged prostate for a male of your age is not uncommon. Have you ever suffered a back injury? Another possible cause could be an underactive thyroid as the whole metabolism slows down, along with a weight increase and increased tiredness. This can be confirmed by a blood test. I know my own GP missed the problem for 3 years. Waterworks appear to have returned to normal after treatment of thyroid with Thyroxine without taking other prescribed tablets, also more energy and weight is coming off too.

I have reduced urine flow and I've had the camera inserted (sounds worse than it is, honest!) and all they found was a narrowing of the neck of the uterus....don't know why just means I can pee OK I'm a small bore! and it takes a while to empty the tank...whilst they were in there they took a peek at my prostate gland and pronounced me OK there, this was done when I was 45.
Only other thing it's strange looking at your own insides live on a monitor....think I prefer Eurosport!!

neck of the uterus
.... urethra...

Any way just don't worry about it...

They say that nobody talks about sex as they did in the 60'-70s... that bathroom talk is a way of introducing the aformentioned subject.... and I actually deprecate this thread on account of it.

The gist is undesirable.

I am a happily married man with five grandchildren.

Vicarious has a problem with plain English.

a couple ov years ago i had to forsake my air seat and use a hard saddle for a while this created problems with my urinary tract
and caused me to b frequently runing for a leak.i barely made it up a lift once.after a couple of weeks back on my air seat the problem cleared upon its own. i was about 60 at the time.

Thanks to everyone for their replies. Had a more talkative consultant this time, who reckoned cycling wouldn't have caused this problem, although he did say that excessive cycling could lead to erectile dysfunction.

Now had the "tube". Seen it on TV and prefer Eurosport, too! More tests ... but seems OK in general.

Thanks again
