I read in The Times business section that a third of all bikes are bought at Halfords. Whether you love them or hate them, it is a remarkable success story which we should all salute.

1 in 3 bikes bought from a shop where a good number (but not all) of the staff on the bike counter don't know how to assemble them properly, yeah, great.

i spent my weekend sorting out an 'assembled' bike from halfords...

set up brakes properly as they were rubbing on the rims...& too loose as the lever travelled too far

had to turn the front forks the RIGHT WAY ROUND!!!

everything else seemed in good nick tho...gears etc
are the gears set up by the manufacturers or by Halfords themselves???

I go past my LBS at 10.00am and it's not yet open, I go past again at 5.35pm and it's already closed. How can you buy a bike from a shop that never appears to be open?

Halfords is open from 9.00am to 8.00pm and open 7 days a week. That's why they sell more bikes.

At least at Halford's there are some people capable of holding a spanner the right way round. It's the variable service which annoys me - sometimes good, sometimes so clue-free that it's potentially hazardous.

I'd much prefer people to buy a bike at Halford's than at a supermarket.

Are the other 2 out of 3 stolen from Halfords?
