I have a Shimano Hollow Tech XT 770 drive system fitted with XT 11/32 cassette.Front chainring XT Tripple.

I have been told that I should be only using Shimano chains,
I have been using Sram PC 951, can you assist please ,

As long as its the right number of "speeds" you should be fine with any reputable make of chain.

Remember, anything you do (or don't do) to your bike can have safety implications

Am I the only one to find Shimano chains a bit quieter than SRAM ones? Gear changing is the same.

There may be some small difference in noise/slickness of gear change but they're all cross compatible to my knowledge, although I'm not 100% sure that campagnolo chains match the same speed to chain width. I mostly buy kmc.

M770? so 9s?

Any 9s chain will work, possibly not campagnolo. Shift quality, smoothness in running and noise will vary.

(I think that SRAM chains are often a bit noisier, but this also varies with lube used too)

cheers
