early LED light

I am clearing out and disposing of my late friend's cycling stuff, (see ad on this forum) and found this LED light. I can remember Dave using this. Made by Basta of Denmark, it is turned on by touching the two small prongs on the top with a conductor. Not long after this appeared various LED rear lights appeared some even able to flash and of course the wonderful greenish front lights. 72mm high plus5mm prongs, 58mm wide, 25mm deep, powered by two AA batteries.

was that from the early 1980s, or earlier than that?

I think so, I can remember him using it, none of our crowd was impressed enough to rush out and buy one, I rather expect we thought it was too expensive. It gives quite a good light but only from behind, even at a 15 degree deflection the light is poor.
