It looks like he is heading for a hat trick of sackings for lying.
It's the same the whole world over
It's the poor what gets the blame
It's the rich what gets the pleasure
Isn't it a blooming shame?

We wrote to the Met yesterday after media reports that they had decided not to investigate the notorious 20 May 2020 No 10 garden party, which was attended by the Prime Minister. We have now received a response. Contrary to those reports the Met have confirmed that they haven’t made a decision about whether to investigate the 20 May 2020 party yet.

The Met say that all available material relating to the 20 May party, including the Prime Minister’s statement to Parliament on Wednesday, has been passed to a specialist team for assessment. And no decision has yet been reached.

It's The Tiems/Sinday Timse. Their spelling is even worse than the Grauniad's...

Amazing that 20% of people can't remember what the rules were... (at least half of those are aware that they can't remember)

First national lockdown (March to June 2020)
England was in national lockdown between late March and June 2020. Intitally, all “non-essential” high street businesses were closed and people were ordered to stay at home, permitted to leave for essential purposes only, such as buying food or for medical reasons. Starting in May 2020, the laws were slowly relaxed. People were permitted to leave home for outdoor recreation (beyond exercise) from 13 May. On 1 June, the restriction on leaving home was replaced with a requirement to be home overnight, and people were permitted to meet outside in groups of up to six people.
A shortcut has to be a challenge, otherwise it would just be the way. No situation is so dire that panic cannot make it worse.
There are two kinds of people in this world: those can extrapolate from incomplete data.

I bring great news.

Radio 4 this morning is saying that Tory MPs are reporting inboxes rammed with angry messages from long term supporters who want Boris out. This has to be the end for Boris. The backing of his MPs will not persist if they perceive that their Tory backing constituents are furious. I expect the number of Tory MPs demanding that he go will rise significantly over the next few days. I think he is toast now.

But who next for PM? I can't think of anyone in the cabinet who might look like a breath of fresh air.

Hooray! The Mail has dug up a photo of Starmer having a beer. Cries of hypocrisy to deflect some of the merde falling on Boris.
The Mail can always be relied on to give a balanced view.

Current betting odds (decimal format):
Sunak 2.62
Truss 4.00
Starmer 8.00
Hunt 9.00
Gove 11.00
Javid 13.00

Amongst the Conservatives Hunt is the closest to a breath of fresh air.

Can you think of anyone in the Tory party who cares more for the country than they do for their despicable party?

They love to hide behind a veneer of flag waving but care only for themselves first, party second and, if it suits, the country last.

Actually, I can. We have two Tories in our local Town Council (in which Mrs P also serves, as a Green). Before 2019 all 18 seats were held by Tories.

One of the two, a local man in late middle-age, fairly well-to-do (judging by his house and car), is nevertheless quite a decent guy. I've met him a few times and Mrs P says he contributes sensibly and usefully to the Council meetings, and, being more experienced in Local Gov. than the new 2019 intake, he has lots of good advice to offer his fellow-councillors.

The other Tory, on the other hand, probably does fit your perception. I'll say no more.

But would the decent Tory ever get to a position of being PM?
Point being made is being "decent" excludes him from leadership without question.

TBH,how any "decent" person can remain a Tory party member after the past ten years, and particularly the past two years,of their party's track record,I frankly find amazing.
Any "decent" person would surely seek to distance themselves from such a corrupt and selfseeking political party.

Where is Rory Stewart now? Did he leave, or was he pushed?
