Please don't write Starmer off just yet. If he does head a labour government, as is expected, let's see how he gets on.
For those who supported Corbyn he doesn't look capable of putting in the changes to get something done about the inequalities seen today.
I'm not so sure but it will take more than one term in office.
The right will start saying he hasn't made a difference after a few short weeks. I think Labour supporters should cut him some slack.
After 12 years of Tory graft and corruption, the pandemic, the war and Br****, the problems are numerous and will take time to put right.

I reckon it'll take two terms before we see any really big changes.
Starmer seems straight enough but if his government don't take the people with them there'll be uproar .
The Tories have promised the earth and delivered nothing but pain and suffering for the ordinary people,as Angela Rayner said, they're scum.
Let's hope a Labour government aren't a Blair repeat.
One thing's for sure there's a rocky road ahead undoing what the scum have done and it won't be easy for anyone in power!

I can't argue with that, putting some of the things the Tories ruined will take time. I personally want to see him restore the civil liberties that have been taken away.
On a side issue I see the forecasted growth in the UK is behind Russia. The differences is we've sanctioned ourselves.

Yeah.

Rebuilding every school in the country would be a disaster
As would slashing NHS waiting times
And massively reducing child poverty
And acting on LGBTQ+ rights
And reducing the hereditary part of the House of Lords
And bringing the warring sides in Northern Ireland together
And putting ourselves at the heart of Europe

Down with this sort of thing!

There's no dout the Blair government did a lot of good but I was thinking more about illegal wars, and his tax avoidance issues whilst becoming a multimillionaire into the bargain.

Yep that should be one of the first things on his to do list IMO

We shouldn't be surprised with the way the Tories have hadled the economy these past 13 years as they've filled their own pockets to busting,as one Nadim Zahawi amoung many others has shown!

It's difficult, isn't it: which liar to believe?
There could be an explanation why Johnson chooses now to say Putin threatened him:- https://youtu.be/4yM6Y09n9FU

Johnson will be summoned to give evidence under oath.
Do you believe being under oath will make Johnson tell the truth? I certainly don't. He'll continue as before and bluster and avoid any direct answers to direct questions.

And there's the imminent inquiry by the Privileges Committee... or is there?

Hmmm

There's reasons people are cautious on starmer. He's moved several times into populist Tory nonsense and it's not obvious if it's genuine or because he's over relying on focus groups.

I'd add in uturning on voting reform to that list. And again starmer looks all too similar here. Changes to the lords is irrelevant deck chair rearranging whilst the commons remains elected by fptp.

I wouldn't even put any money on Starmer winning a majority. Doubt turnout will be much over 50%, those who ought to hope to benefit from a Labour government don't think that any of the Establishment give a monkey's - and their about right. The new ID requirements will disenfranchise Labour's demographic.
Not much chance of a Falklands event to help Rishi, so he's settling up the rail workers for the miners role in demonising the "left" aka Unions.
