Boris's Brain is missing
Re: Boris's Brain is missing
So having paid a vast sum for the last legal team we (the public) are now expected to pay what appears an unlimited amount for a new team to be briefed, to familiarise themselves with the case, study all the documentation and then start to assist Johnson.
Far better idea - Johnson provides in formation the inquiry asks for. He answers (truthfully) questions the inquiry asks. That way he does not need a legal team. He only needs a legal team if he is trying to withhold information or be anything less than 100% forthcoming.
As think of all those people with sound issues who cannot get legal aid because of funding constraints, all those struggling as food banks struggle to cope with demand whilst a multi-millionaire spends unlimited public money to help him avoid telling the whole truth.

Re: Boris's Brain is missing
So, Johnson's own lawyers shopped him for breaking covid laws whilst going through discovery.
Johnson accuses ask and sundry of a political plot against him.
Johnson sacks his own lawyers.
Johnson uses his lack of legal representation as an excuse for not complying with discovery.
He's obviously trying to wriggle out of his lies yet again.
When will his supporters finally get the memo?

Re: Boris's Brain is missing
But what does any of this REALLY matter? Tories rule and thus so does corruption. The inequality gaps grow ever greater. The NHS creeps ever closer to full on privatisation. The opposition moves ever closer to the Tories. Nationalisation of utilities remains off any Agenda. Protest bcomes ever more constrained. Etc. Etc.
Re: Boris's Brain is missing
Yes, standards in public life do matter. And discussing, identifying and documenting breaches helps.

PS: But at the political level there might be a serious chance of splits between the Conservatives bringing this government down sooner than would otherwise be the case.

Of course they do! And the recording of such can help us adjust, if necessary - if possible...Yes, standards in public life do matter. And discussing, identifying and documenting breaches helps.
As an animal, we look up to those in charge and model our behaviour, consciously or otherwise, on what they do and how they act. We are after-all, just super-sophisticated primates...
When our equivalent of the silver-backs start to play fast and loose with the rules & conventions, we - most of us - follow. If you want any further proof just look around !!

I'm not surprised piffle doesn't want this stuff available to the enquiry... shows the family in a poor light - yet again!

Today's notice of extension is worth reading. It closes off many lines of possible argument. And It's going to be a brave civil servant who signs the statement of truth.

Re: Boris's Brain is missing
We're in danger of stumbling into a new way of governing. Blair's got the nickname "sofa-government" - seems piffle's and those since are "WhatsApp government", where all the important conversations become invisible, just as soon as the decisions are made! Oh dear...the Cabinet Office does not have in its possession either Mr Johnson's WhatsApp messages or Mr Johnson's notebooks
