I just bought two tyres from NL, my first purchase of bike parts from Europe since Brexit, if I remember rightly.
All the UK internet cycle shops I normally look at either offered only narrower sizes than 622-32 or were out of stock. I ordered on 3rd April upon receiving an email from Mantel advising that they had them in stock again, and they arrived two days later. Even allowing for shipping the price was very good. Full marks to Mantel.

I have a story from the other end of the telescope. I live in Portugal and have not bought anything from the UK since Brexit. A few weeks ago, Wiggle had a great deal on a 105 groupset - £300 delivered including, it said, all taxes and duty. As usual it was dispatched promptly and was due for delivery about 5 days after order. A couple of days before the delivery date I had an email from DHL to say that there was £166 duty and clearance taxes to pay. I contacted Wiggle who, after I had forwarded the details to them, told me to pay the fee and I would be refunded by them - which I did and I was.

Obviously great service from Wiggle, who certainly would have made a loss on the transaction. So the sustainability of UK exports of this nature to the EU is clearly questionable.

I can order parts from Rose Bikes and have them sent to France but they have no stock.
I ordered 3 chains and a 7 speed cassette. I wondered when they would turn up so I went to their site to check my order.

No stock, 8 to 10 weeks delay. Good job I keep such items in my stash.

entirely different issue of course.
whenever I used Rose (pre Brexit - can't now unless they have changed their policy) they always clearly indicated whether stuff was in stock/at the warehouse or not.

Unfortunately Rose have not changed their policy, but I think you can order to the UK from Bike24.

True, but I was pointing out even if they shipped to the UK they may not have stock.

In the past it was clearly shown when items were out of stock but not this time. Maybe a glitch in their stock control.

I've been caught out looking online to see if a local store has stock only to find when going to buy the item that no stock is on the shelf.

I've noticed that several items on hollandbikeshop.com which were available for shipping to the UK no longer are. Particularly, I've had my eye on Tubus racks which were definitely shipped to the UK last year and priced in £ but out of stock. Now it doesn't give a GBP price but instead says "This product cannot be shipped to the following countries: United Kingdom"

My memory may be faulty but I had the idea that they were the company that some time ago famously issued a statement (sounded somewhat angry - not that I blame them) saying that they had no intention of shipping to the UK anymore, jumping through the new UK government hoops.

Did mantel take care of all VAT/customs stuff?
I did order some expensive Ortlieb panniers from Mantel pre Brexit - good experience.

Yes, it was as if I had bought from the UK.

Thanks - may renew my relationship with them - may also have bought a wheel true-ing stand from them in the past - can't remember - I do remember that it was damn hard to get hold of from the UK.

I think it might have been the (imho) similarly named Dutchbikebits.com - viewtopic.php?p=1565137#p1565137 - but there's so many EU online bike shops stopping or restricting trading with GB due to brexit that it could be plausible for any of them.

As well as Holland Bike shop recently stopping shipping products to the UK, I've also noticed that Bikester UK are currently not shipping to the UK either and pointing UK customers to Wiggle instead. Wiggle do not carry the same stock lines as Bikester and everything that I had in mind to get from Bikester (dynamo lights) are not available at Wiggle. This notice has been there for a couple of weeks at least iirc and I can't help but feel cynical about the claimed system upgrade.

Last year I put together a parts list for a bike build that yet might or might not happen - there's still things unsorted that the finance relies on. The cost has gone up quite a bit since last May and the whole project is a lot more expensive than if I could buy from EU online shops as I once could - not only since brexit but also since last May - things from my current perspective seem to continue to be getting worse.

Didn't know Bikester was associated with Wiggle.
