Komoot is excellent. I pay for the full service option. Works really well with my Wahoo Roam. Sorry can't comment on Garmin.

Thanks all , again mostly very helpful, spent my £20 on Kamoot, off out cycling using my Garmin loaded with a 40 mile route download from Kamoot and transferred via Bluetooth (staying localish)
