Triple chainset with double mech

Will it work? Chainset is a Stronglight Impact 48/38/28 and the front mech is a Tiagra flat bar version for road doubles with a Deore triple trigger shifter. I expect to ride mostly in the 38 and 28 rings. Any insights?

there will be a model number on the FD without which all is speculation.
FWIW if the FD is meant for a compact double it will be set up to shift well on a ~14-16T interval, and the inner cage plate will be set too deep for a 10T middle to big interval such as you intend to use. To use that FD may require that it is set ~6mm too high (else it will hit the middle chainring) and when it is set that high overshifting (off the big ring) is often possible.
