Adding Disc Mounts
Re: Adding Disc Mounts
If I replace the link wires with a separate straddle hanger and wire then could widen angle so 90deg when applied.

You could simply spread the arms wider and achieve much the same thing. In fact wider arms are better (than a short straddle) because the straddle angles tend to change less as the brake is applied.
I'd also suggest that if you lowered your front mudguard slightly, you would be able to get the straddle lower yet...?

Re: Adding Disc Mounts
The grd would be lower had I not moved in with my gf at time of first lockdown and am still there, without bits of metal, vice etc to make an extender!
Can I widen arm spacing while retaining the fixed length link? (I can't visualise the geometry of keeping it but ditching the sheath on the through wire.)
Or are we at crossed purposes?

yes! You will have to slide the brake blocks through the posts of course.
Just make sure that the part of the main brake cable which was in the pinch bolt before isn't starting to break up or is so kinked it won't slide into the skinny link sheath.
cheers

OK, got it now - sorry for brain fade!
Wire as new, if a problem then I will fit another.
