I remember seeing one in use in Dublin but had been painted green.

Here's a well kept hexagonal Victorian post box in Folkestone, Kent.

One more. This time it is a local one, from my Boxing Day ride (note seasonal holly bush) and it is still technically in use - though given its position on a blind bend on a fast road, the fact that it's tucked away and the sparsity of nearby cottages, I'm not sure how many letters it actually receives. It's attached to the side wall of a cottage. It must be an early one as it has a swing flap to keep the elements out. East Tytherley, Hants.

I must have cycled past it more than a hundred times, but I never really noticed it until I was challenged to come back with pictures of postboxes.

The blue VR postbox is on Harwich Railway Station. I have no idea why it’s blue!

Sorry roberts8 for the delay in answering your question re my bike.
It’s a Tern X30 aluminium folding bike and has 20” wheels. Very useful for getting on and off small ferry boats, like the ones that operate in Suffolk. I don’t actually have to fold it as it’s quite light. I’ve done some short ‘light’ touring on it where I have stayed in yha’s.

Is that at Harwich International, next to the port?

If so could it be a comparator for passports?

Gosport has a Hexagonal, Penfold Design, VR Post box

It's Grade 2 listed, and one of only 20 still in existence.

Saw this real example of snail mail whilst cycling near Ripon a year or so ago. Many years ago I occasionally used a box which had a 'snail guard' fitted.

JDSK....No the VR blue post box is at the end of the only platform at Harwich Town Railway Station. Not the International station at the port.
