Warning or instruction?
Warning or instruction?
Came across several of these on the Strawberry Line around Sandford way - never seen the one before. I think i know what its trying to say but it is rather open to multiple interpretations!
Convention? what's that then?

Re: Warning or instruction?
I don't think I've seen that one before. I wonder if it's an officially permitted variant or something the contractor made up? You do see non-standard variations even on roads, so anything is possible on the Strawberry Line! But not so non-standard as to confuse triangles and circles...
Of course it could be an instruction to fit a mudflap....

Re: Warning or instruction?
Was it left over after the recent repairs.

Of course it could also be a new warning sign for horse poo lane or dog poo alley.

Re: Warning or instruction?
Is it the new gravel bike sign?
We could use it to answer the weekly "What's a gravel bike?" thread.

Re: Warning or instruction?
I assumed it was a warning that there were riders without rear mudflaps ahead.

Re: Warning or instruction?
I took it to mean - "take care, loose surface"
Re: Warning or instruction?
presumably it is the bike-path equivalent of the 'loose chippings' sign

In both cases the 'chippings' are rather large, if they are to scale...?
cheers

While sensible, it is not a lawful sign, as far as I can tell.

It's saying, "In case you've not ridden a bike much, the stuff you're riding is unpleasantly lumpy and at best will cause your uni-track vehicle to weave about unpleasantly and at worst will send up a single sharp-edged pebble into the path of your riding companion following you and take one of their eyes out... We have warned you, so it's not our fault!".

Re: Warning or instruction?
It is a warning sign, instruction signs have the triangle the other way up (like a Give Way sign).
The sign in the OP must be to warn people behind a bike of flying gravel from hard pedellers spinning rear wheels....
We had the above round our way (Sustrans work). They did come and sweep up the loose stuff after a bit, at least 10 tons worth from just over a mile of 3m wide cycle track (I saw the very full truck drive away)!

The Strawberry Line is usually pretty well crushed and rolled limestone.
Horrible porridge when wet, though. Should be upgraded to macadam at least IMO.

Think this may be the folk responsible for the trail protecting their buttock against the possibility of someone trying to bring a legal case against them after they've come a cropper.

Re: Warning or instruction?
Hi,
So if I see one of these on the cycle path I can give it a big kick
