Hi,
I always look at the standard, that is how long it lasts on continuous steady solid light, (non flash).
The ones I have are NOT rechargeable (normally I am ok with rechargeable even non removeable batteries) and two aaa's last 27 hrs & 30 on alkaline.

What rechargeable rear red solid lights last longest?

You can get flexible red LED tape which is powered by 12 Volts. This can be as long as you like as you just cut it with scissors.

How long would you ideally like this rear light to be?

Moon are brilliant (forgive the pun), but I've also had great success with these which, for a fiver, are pretty amazing and use the rubber fixing which you mentioned preferring.

This opens up so many excessive possibilities, great idea! [emoji38]

I'm a trendy consumer. Just look at my CLT-L09 using hovercraft full of eels.
