He seems to post at any time, day or night, so perhaps he is in hibernation to catch up on sleep in one go.

I'm clinging to the hope that he's just getting his hardware tweaked and his software updated...

I do not know him or any personal information, but I have my ideas on who he is from references on a couple of scientific papers, but no other info on the web.
I believe he has said himself that he is a metallurgist by training.

But safe to say he has massive knowledge in materials and engineering, plus such a vast experience of bikes.

Just the guy to have on the forum, he has benefited many with his knowledge, myself included.

Hope all is well and we see him back shortly.

Hope he's OK, and that the plague hasn't got him.
Have we got time for another cuppa?

I too admire and appreciate Brucey's knowledge, mechanical, metallurgical and electrical.
Also of note is the in depth analysis of some component design or other - sometimes on an aspect that probably never even occures to a lot of us!

Like everybody else I hope he's OK.

I see somebody has suggested he simply took his track pump home.

I hope that's not the case because it's quite unrealistic to expect to have a post count in the tens of thousands and not face some negativity.

Have to say I’ve cut down on this forum a lot of the last 2 years because of the proliferation of political threads with views I find disagreeable. I usually limit myself to the touring forum because of this and had missed Bruce’s going awol...

I've been very grateful for the advice, suggestion and details he's supplied. And I have noticed his absence. Hoping he and his are ok.

It's unfortunate that no one knows who Brucey is and could report on his health or whatever. Jobst Brandt was a fount of knowledge, but did not post under an alias and some people knew him personally. When he had the fateful bike accident that ultimately lead to his demise, they reported what happened. Of course, I can't blame Brucey for wanting to be anonymous in this day and age.

It's the blind leading the blind from now on if Brucey has retired.
I always found his IGH stuff most interesting.

If he's retired, that will be a great loss to the forum. If he has chosen to retire, then I hope he returns if only to tell us he's ok.

I know who he is as we bought and sold a few bits to each other and not living too far apart we met in person a couple of times to exchange. I don't know his address or phone number though, he always came to mine.

Is it time for Memory Lane yet? Just stumbled across this post while researching Raleigh Special Products

I agree; that is almost certainly a frame that was made in the far east somewhere. Not a bad frame per se (I don't think it is very likely to break or anything) but it'll ride like a plank with tubes like that.

cheers
