I'm drink more coffee since our friends have been been unable to travel to France bringing our favourite Yorkshire tea .
French tea just isn't to my taste, far to weak.
We use a very old Krupps coffee maker, great machine but very difficult to get spares for and I'm coming to the end of finding ways to fix it.
I prefer to use ground coffee and don't want anything that uses capsules.

I've been looking at a Barletti traditional coffee maker and wonder if anyone here uses one.

They look quite rugged and durable but what's the coffee like?

I have a tiny one espresso cup Barletti. Bombproof and brilliant.

Aeropress is another option to consider - I use one at work.

Thanks Grumpy-Grandad but I only wanted to by a coffee machine not a coffee plantation . I like my coffee but not enough to spend that sort of money on a machine.

Thanks Grumpy-Grandad but I only wanted to by a coffee machine not a coffee plantation . I like my coffee but not enough to spend that sort of money on a machine.

Can you not get tea posted to you. I can recommend Miles tea blended in the West country at Porlock.

Expensive, yes, but great. You get what you pay for. Press a button and excellent coffee comes out, no grinding or mess. Fill with water and beans occasionally.

I'm not sure I agree in the middle range tbh. Buy something cheaper and you still get the same brew unit and grinder, boiler too - they are the important bits of any B2C machine. There's a lot of 'value' being added to models for 'frou-frous' of limited use.

Can you not get tea posted to you. I can recommend Miles tea blended in the West country at Porlock.

We did that last Autumn and it took weeks to get here and postage was pricey. It was worth it to get a decent cuppa.
With France working to the very letter of the trade deal I'm hesitant to try getting it here again.
Fingers crossed, as soon as he's allowed a friend is coming over and will bring some. I'll be interested to see how he gets on getting it through customs.

Or maybe Bialetti? As in a stovetop moka pot?

Well done you ditching the capsules. For fast filter coffee, I use a Hario V60 cone+jug set. For posher coffee, I use a Lacor (Spanish) stainless moka pot, but I don't consume too much unfiltered coffee because it's worse for cholesterol, sadly.

I've used a Bialetti while travelling and it seemed OK but it was my first few goes at it, so the coffee was a bit overextracted for my taste. I don't see why it wouldn't come good with time.

My first coffee everyday is Bialetti. It’s bomb proof and gives a great espresso. I use a 3 cup one for my own consumption.
I did persevere with a cheap copy for a couple of years and it wasn’t a patch on the original item.

I was a bit sceptical when bought one, but it won me over with the quality of the coffee it produces - which is kind of the point, I guess
