One MacBook with the Ascent app on is used to export each and every GPX track from October 2004 (when I first started recording my rides) to May 2013 so far. I have bought a 64Gb memory stick to put it all on including the MyTracks app.
I have annual folders of the GPX tracks on the same stick.
...
Where are the files that you are using at the start of the conversion process? And what format are they in?
Thanks
Jonathan

They are in Ascent.
I can export them in lots of formats, but chose GPX to do it, as that is an easy one for many people and websites and programs.
They are originally imported from my Garmin Montana.
I used to have a Garmin Edge20, and that sent out FIT files to Ascent.
Before my Montana, I used a Garmin Edge 705 and before that, a Garmin Edge 305. They used TCX files.

We've established that they are available within Ascent. But it would be helpful to know where that data is stored. As upthread I suspect that it's in files somewhere.
There might be a better process that could save you a lot of time if we could work out where those files are and in what format the data is held.

If they were collected by a Garmin they'll likely also be in Garmin Connect. Get a free Strava account and they'll load into Strave and load them into VeloViewer (£10/yr).
Whilst I personally like to have local on my device logs, I also really like the VeloViewer "Wheel Display.
example, the Wheel display for my tour in NL last summer
VeloViewer also does the daily track display, cumulative analysis, etc. but it is online not a local computer app. There is a free version of VeloViewer but it has quite severe restrictions.
I actually duplicate as it's easy to do. Garmin automatically loads rides to Garmin Connect which automatically passes them to Strava (free account) and when ready to look in VeloViewer, single button collects all rides (from Strave) not already in VeloViewer. So the online stuff is all automatic, my on computer (MS Excel) logs and gpx download are the manual bits but it's fairly quick.

I recently wanted to copy12 years of Strava activities into RWGPS. Strava sent me a zip file and the other app imported all the detail. The whole job was under 20 minutes.
You’ve too much time on your hands Mick

Too much time?
Dunno about that, but I own all the GPX files and can do anything I want with them.
Each one, for instance, I can put on BikeHikeUK and look at them. No cost.
Each file can come off fresh from my Garmin and be saved as it is. I don't need a program.
To put something onto an online storage site is an anathema to me. I own My Tracks and I own Ascent, but I don'd actually need either of them.

Still - in slow time - uploading all my tracks into MyTracks, and saving them all into a folder.
Done up and including, April 2018.
Slow progress as I'm recording which bike too.
This is the Cornwall section.
This is before I rode to all the Parish Churches etc etc etc.

Done them up until the end of 2018.
1313 recorded rides from October 2004 to December 2018.
Some non-recorded.
2011 files were corrupted a tad, so some are missing forever.

Done them all. October 2004 to yesterday's ride.
Please note, that these records are only GPS tracks. I've cycled all along the south coast in the past, plus other rides in the West of Scotland, and also all over Lancashire and North Wales. Also Isle of Man.

Greetings!
I'm an ex-Ascent user, and I'm trying to find something that can translate an Ascent file into either a .gpx or .fit. The file type in Ascent is a .tlp.
I had to upgrade my laptop's MacOS for work, and I lost the ability to use Ascent. Now, I have found a place from I downloaded an old MacOS, OS 10.3.7, but I'd like to avoid going the route, at least for convenience's sake.
Has any found a place or had any success converting Ascent .tlp files outside of Ascent?

Welcome
I assume that you've read this thread from the start, and spotted both the absence of a solution and the frustration encountered in trying to help.

I can't work out what a
.tlp file is in this context. Please can you:
1 Do a
File... Get Info on one of the files, grab a screenshot of what is displayed and post it here.
2 Open one of the files in
TextEdit, copy the first ten lines of the contents and post them here.
