Muck off Dry Lube- not fit for purpose useless
Cleaned chain religiously and following the instructions I hoped for a less messy option.
First off it affected shifting and I thought I had either not re lubricated enough or a shifting issue.
Secondly a Shimano chain that got drizzle at best for all of 5mins and wiped dried and re lubricated.
Chain started to rust and dry weather it still shows some rust creeping on it.
Poor shifting, great if you live in a desert, waste of time otherwise.
How this garbage got packaged and sold beyond me-back to regular cleaning and wet lube.

Muck off lubes are rubbish full stop.
Muck off wet lube is the single worst lube I’ve ever had the misfortune to use.
Wet lubes are good for mountain biking but pick up far too much gunk for general road use.
I use Finishline wax.Chain looks like new after just over 1000 miles.

Interesting, I expected a dry lube to be washed off in a downpour and careful with it.Maillot Rouge wrote: ↑31 May 2021, 7:04pm Muck off lubes are rubbish full stop.

Most I would expect is a bit of drizzle and re application after drying, are you suggesting Finishline would suit this.
The Muck Off rubbish-application each ride and a waste of time.

And then I had this problem with Muc-Off C3 WET WEATHER CERAMIC LUBE.

It is utter rubbish. Messy, only lubricates for about 2 weeks before accumulating into a useless white gunge all over your sprockets, your chain will rust even in a dry garage. If you have any, bin it now.

Agree fully with sentiments, I'm using a wet lube for the moment nothing fancy.
I thought bit more environmentally friendly and less mess was Ideal, on this occasion I was wrong.

Just to add a bit of balance to this thread I really like Muck Off chain lube
The dry lube is definitely for dry weather only but is very clean. The wet lube I find is very long lasting. However if you slosh it on it will make a sticky mess that attracts dirt and gums up the derailleur and cassette. If however you apply small drop on each roller of a clean chain, spin it a few times, allow a few minutes for capillary action to draw the lube in and ten wipe off any excess I find that it is brilliant.
One man's meat and all that...

Yep. Ive been using Muc-Off dry for a few years, lasts well, quite clean and I like the new white potion for quick application.

Haha I bought their dry lube just last week as they obviously have brand recognition and were reasonably priced, now feeling confused about the opinions about it on here!
No experience with any other lubes
Re: Muck off Dry Lube- not fit for purpose useless
As I said above I find it fine in dry conditions. In wet conditions it needs to be reapplied regularly. I use it through the summer on my "summer bike", i.e. the one without mudguards. Make sure you start with a clean chain and put one drop on each link as above. I was using it when I rode the World Championships sportive in 2019 and we had hours of heavy rain and had no problems so it can cope with rain.MountainSurfer wrote: ↑1 Jun 2021, 11:09pm Haha I bought their dry lube just last week as they obviously have brand recognition and were reasonably priced, now feeling confused about the opinions about it on here!No experience with any other lubes

Might help if chain type stated, mine shimano-something like a clarks Anti Rust chain may fair better.

On my various bikes I have KMC and Shimano (tandem f&r), Moulton - SRAM, summer road bike - Sunrace, winter road bike - SRAM.ClappedOut wrote: ↑3 Jun 2021, 12:06am Might help if chain type stated, mine shimano-something like a clarks Anti Rust chain may fair better.

I'm with you on this, I'm surprised to read so many negative comments. With the dry lube I try to avoid cycling in wet conditions, and clean the chain maybe every few weeks, in between just add a bit more lube if I think it needs it. On my other 'general purpose/wet weather' bike I use the wet lube which as you say can make a sticky mess, but so can any other wet lube.iandusud wrote: ↑1 Jun 2021, 8:00am Just to add a bit of balance to this thread I really like Muck Off chain lube![]()

Wax based dry lubes that are liquid when applied will invariably use some kind of surfactant system to maintain the wax suspension whilst liquid. This surfactant system doesn't go away when the solvent/water dries off. Indeed, it is ready and willing to resuspend/resolubilise the wax just as soon as you expose it to water. Consequently it should not be a surprise that such lubricants wash off the chain easily in wet weather.
Hot wax lubricants are a completely different kettle of fish.
