EU Red tape scrapped..Large expansion in uk vineyards.

Wine can now be sold in pint bottles...😄

Personally English, Oz, NZ, Chile and Argieland are my preferred sources. Occasionally Portugal and Italy. Reasonably priced French stuff is poor except if you are prepared to pay through the nose.

You are of course talking about French wines bought in the UK; Far different buying French wines in France. I've always suspected the french send their sh1t wine to the UK as it's thought the Brits don't know the difference. :)
I remember years back a Frenchman stopped me in the wine section in the supermarket and pointed to a bottle of red wine from Chile and said "it ees verry gud". He was spot on and until it disappeared off the shelves I bought it regularly.

Hopefully those indoors aerials will have improved. I have memories of holding aerials up near the ceiling to get a decent signal.

That's pretty funny Al. Did you read what the Brexit bonuses are?

You can now buy screw top sparkling wine, and extra cheap weak stuff made from waste. Oh, and in imperial sizes.

It was worth it after all!

It's encouraging to see the Government dealing with the pressing issues of the day, they've really grasped what's important and not let any of the other nonsense distract them.

Aye, they've definitely not bottled it.

And the changed regulations for piquette have made it more worthwhile to scrape the barrel.

Until 4 years ago I attended a monthly wine appreciation group in Tony Laithwaites village for 30 years and shopped for wines many times in France. I am no wine expert but know what I like. French wines are governed by fairly archaic rules not least of which has been a reluctance to mention the grape varieties prominently on the labels. Thats partly why they arent the most prominent wines on on Briitish shelves. The French still make some very nice wines but they have been largely left behind by the combined efforts of others in the British market. We are Chile's biggest overseas wine market. No need for us to follow archaic EU rules.

The only rule change would be allowing pint bottles.
I'm certain many equate a good wine by price and not taste. I've always been very suspicious of the wine tasting aficionardos, in blind tests most have got it wrong, wine groups are part of this mystic.

Which products of UK vineyards do you expect to sell in greater volume in which markets as a result of these changes?

Thanks

Whites and sparkling whites. Tony Laithwaites Mrs has been doing well with her Peppard vineyard. I would expect our home market is where English wine will do well. Camel Valley in Cornwall has been a bit of a trailblazer.

Thankyou.

Which of these changes do you expect to increase sales of those products in that market?

Jonathan, the more nonsensical red tape goes the better.

I've been to the Camel Valley vineyard, just off the excellent Camel trail, which is a wonderful scenic ride for anyone who's not familiar.

Back on topic, the wine there is excellent but very pricey indeed; Sparkling starts at £30 a bottle. https://www.camelvalley.com/shop/?categ ... ling-wines

How exactly will changes to allow these wines to have screw tops and be sold in non-standard sizes boost the vineyard? And do you expect them to start producing cheap, weak wine from the waste as the other change in regs allows?

British wine is a premium, not mass market product.

Honestly, the fact that this is being trumpeted as a benefit shows just how tragically weak the benefits are, and of course, how the Telegraph and supporters of brexit generally are still unable to move on from the fact that Brexit has failed.

I don't expect these change to have much effect. But there is an increasing market for low-alcohol drinks and the changes on piquette might fit with that trend.

The exports of wine from the UK are to rather surprising destinations. I don't know if these changes are consistent with their regulations as well as ours. And I expect that we're going to run into many examples of the Brussels effect:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brussels_effect

The other changes seem to have been what was possible without legislation rather than with any regard to impact. And the government must have been very disappointed with the results of the consultation on units of measurement, and wanted to do something, anything.

Last I heard Brexit has not failed, we have it. Uncomfortable fact for those who wished to remain... No sign of any organised efforts to revert to EU membership either. Growing disatisfaction in several EU member states too with many predicting collapse.

Of course Brexit has failed. It has brought none of the promised benefits, and many things, including your hated red tape, are much worse.

That this cannot be acknowledged is of course a measure of how ideological rather than practical the whole thing was. The truth simply cannot be admitted.

And I see you're now into another of the Brexit fantasies that failed to materialise, the collapse of the EU. Let's have the evidence: list the "many predicting collapse", with a source for the predictions.
