I have a wonderful cycle mechanic..........
Was on my way to work this morning and my chain came off......tried to be independent and put it back myself but couldn't do it.
Phoned my on call mechanic who came out.......in his slippers too! Two minutes later I was all sorted and back on my way to work.....
At least now I know how to sort it out a bit easier.....
So to Wildduck, my wonderful fantastic husband........Thanks!!!
Bet nobody else has a cycle mechanic who does emergency calls in his slippers!!!!!

Its the leather moccassins that make me super speedy!

I'm glad I'm not the only one who has these xtrememly basic problems!

Evidently, this was not one of your 27 mile round trip wildduck/goose chases!!!???
At least now I know how to sort it out a bit easier.....
What? By putting him on speed-dial, you mean?

Aah, they are wonderful - some of them - aren't they!

I don't have a 'special slippers-wearing' platinum service, no!
PS Mrs Wildduck .... I hope you've not repaid the kindness by putting the red pants in the wash with the white shirts and underwear??

I'm really bothered about stuff going wrong when I'm out alone on my bike. I have no on call mechanic. Due to arthritic wrists I even have problems getting tyres on and off when fixing pu***ur**. For this reason I don't go very far from home/railway station on my own.

in case I have to get home after a mechanical.

I have to thank Phil (Malcolm Philmore) formerly of the Cycle Centre of Herne Bay who, in my early cycle-commuting days, did all my repairs while I waited and, at the same time, showed me how these were done. I now do all my own, at the roadside if needs be, but can mainly do them at home before they become an issue!

I've been the one keeping our family on the road for years now, but when our lass's daughter went off to univeristy (she's less technical than a wheelbarrow) I got her a folder, nothing pricey ... a chinese hunk of junk, brand new off ebay for 50 quid. Now, when anything goes wrong she just folds it up and gets a bus, or late at night a taxi.
