On Sunday I did a 110 mile ride up round the Peak District in my new Pro Gel shorts (see above for link). They were excellent. I've done 100mile trips in my old Decathlons and have been sore all day, really, (I've had saddle sores since I used to use a ruck sack on a bike for shopping - fool) and then a little numb down there for a couple of days after but just put up with it as inevitable. But none of that with the Pro Gels! After a day in the saddle it felt like about 10 miles in my old ones - does that make them 10x better? I used to have to stop every 20 miles just to get off the saddle and rest my loins but on Sunday I road straight through to lunch at 60 miles and only stopped for the food. No numbness at the end - no need for watermelon (http://news.bbc.co.uk/newsbeat/hi/healt ... 498061.stm ) I'm so pleased with them that I've gone and bought another 2 pairs.

The question is how much difference is there between these and the Assos ones which are about the price of my three pairs of Pro Gels put together? The Pro Gels have two gel pads under the sit bones and 'underneath' (creating an 'air' channel between them) as well as foam padding. From looking at more expensive shorts they still only seem to have foam padding.
