All very laudable, but this wasn't my experience last time I was in Amsterdam. Admittedly it was a business trip and I was being driven from the airport (not my choice of transport!) to the hotel near the city centre, probably at a busy time. Total gridlock. Another colleague, who'd attempted to drive up from Belgium, phoned in to say he'd given up, shortly after crossing the border.

And of course, no opportunity to get on a bike all through the visit...

Maybe it was just a bad day...
