Spare parts
Spare parts
I have a 2 year old Raliegh Mustang,i need a new through axle bolt for the front wheel but Raliegh do not have and can`t supply this part.I have tried all other avenues but cannot find a bolt of this size.My question is are bike manufacturers obliged by law to supply spares for their bikes for any specific time period?
Re: Spare parts
Not that I know.
There are some "right to repair" rules but I haven't seen bikes included:

But if it has failed in normal use in two years you might have other routes under consumer protection law...

Re: Spare parts
According to the spec-sheet the Mustang uses a 15mm thru-axle.That is a standard size and there are many options available.Check out Wiggle/CRC.
Why exactly do you need a new one?

Re: Spare parts
I need a new one because the original has a quick release lever on one side that is very flimsy and bends when releasing the front wheel.I know that the Raliegh spec states a 15mm but it`s of a different length to any of the aftermarket bolts that are available.Raliegh no longer uses these forks so are unable to supply.
Re: Spare parts
Remove it and match with the one that looks the same and is 15mm.
If it is bending when tightening/loosening then it will be too tight!
NB:-Check if yours is threaded. The one in the link is 12mm and the 15mm front version has a threaded cap so wouldn't be suitable!
There should be a match here:-

Re: Spare parts
Did you find the right part in the end?
If not, then some googling for the 2019 Raleigh Mustang suggests that the front thru axle should be a 15x100mm axel.
While not quick release this should offer the option you need https://www.wiggle.co.uk/brand-x-bolt-t ... lsrc=aw.ds
You'll need to work out what diameter yours is on the threaded end but hopefully your current axle might be marked to show that.
