Sports (cycle) v Politics/Ethics

Post by briansnail »

In Feb 2022 the Saudi Cycle race is back.

The good part of globalization. Sports fixtures are increasingly international. Western influence is pervasive. Countries are adopting western mores and values. The country hit the headlines recently. A journalist disappeared in mysterious and extremely distressing circumstances in an Embassy. Pitted against this there is in a crackdown on religious bigotry. A more democratic and softer religious tolerance is slowly being ushered in. Women have recently been allowed to travel get passports (on their own) and take custody of children. Change is in the air.

I use this purely an example. The question is to mix or not to mix generally? Sport (Cycling) and Politics/Ethics
