Having seen various people's reports the hotels are fine, they're not luxurious, but they are perfectly adequate space.
Having seen TV reports of the supporting crowds gathering outside his hotel in his support, they were pretty small crowds and if he does make it to the competition I do wonder about booing happening. (My brother is Australian National and apparently there is widespread anger about the prospect him being allowed in, the "one rule for them, restrictive rule for the rest of us".
