Judging by your level of fitness, walking and cycling, then you're in a good place to be able to have a perfect recovery.
I spent most of my working life making these things. In the early days hip replacement was a proven procedure and knees less so.
This is no longer the case and knee replacement has an excellent record of success.
In the early days joint replacement succeeded or failed on the skilsl of the surgeon. It was explained to me what you needed was someone who was a cabinet maker but was trained in surgery.
Today the 'woodworking' skills needed have largely been engineered out and provided basic anti infection is in place you'll end up wondering why you put up with the pain for so long.
Good luck, hope it all goes to plan.
