Is that a much older version of the Cicerone route?
I have Nick Mitchell's 2012 route and Richard Barrett's 2021 route.

Not sure what the other routes are.... We enjoyed the Simon brown route apart from some of the campsites had disappeared...... Glencoe and Loch Ness to Drumnadrochit was wonderful..... The route from Gretna green to Glasgow via dumfries and Cumnock was enjoyable....

Hi everyone,

It's been a while, but I finally have all our accommodation booked and a revised route in place (to take these into account). We decided that we wanted to stay at premier inns/travelodges where we could and have added an extra day to the ride, so it will now be over 11 days.

I know you guys have been really helpful so far but as I've had to revise the route from the last advice I received, I wondered if anyone would mind going over my final routes below to just make sure there aren't any parts I should avoid (or add). I would really appreciate any advise anyone is willing to give...

Day 1 - LE to St Austell - https://www.plotaroute.com/route/1827313?units=miles
Day 2 - St Austell to Tiverton - https://www.plotaroute.com/route/1845659?units=miles
Day 3 - Tiverton to Ross on Wye - https://www.plotaroute.com/route/1845735?units=miles
Day 4 - Ross on Wye to Nantwich - https://www.plotaroute.com/route/1846590?units=km
Day 5 - Nantwich to Burton in Kendal - https://www.plotaroute.com/route/1846604?units=km
Day 6 - Burton in Kendal to Lockerbie - https://www.plotaroute.com/route/1846613?units=km
Day 7 - Lockerbie to Stirling - https://www.plotaroute.com/route/1846621?units=miles
Day 8 - Stirling to Fort William - https://www.plotaroute.com/route/1858168?units=miles
Day 9 - Fort William to Inverness - https://www.plotaroute.com/route/1890701?units=miles
Day 10 - Inverness to Helmesdale - https://www.plotaroute.com/route/2078473?units=miles
Day 11 - Helmesdale to LOG - https://www.plotaroute.com/route/1889158?units=miles

Thanks again

Day 6 I say this to anyone not needing anything in Penrith

I think routing apps don’t recognise there’s a cycle path behind the crash barrier along the A66

Thanks for the Penrith tip👍

If anyone else has any other tips/suggestions related to any of my routes listed, that would be great. I would rather have local/previous knowledge to save us ending up on any roads we would be best to avoid.

Thanks

You will need to include maps for Days 10 & 11 to allow comment, otherwise I only see typo re Helmsdale spelling.

I've always favoured the Great Glen route not only for the fantastic scenery, but also the quieter roads, especially if you set off earlier in the morning. Leaving at 7am you'll miss the vast majority of tourist traffic, which doesn't really get moving till around 11am.
