Cateye Velo 5 reset mileage

Post by tentman »

I have a new Velo 5, how do I put the mileage from the old one into the new one?

I'm not sure you can. That was a common issue with lower-end cycling computers. Really annoying if you bought one to replace a previous unit, or changed the batteries.

I think you can on the 5. I can't remember how but I remember that when I changed to 7 the shop told me I couldn't input old distance after battery change etc.

All I can suggest is play around with it.

The instructions are available on the cateye site. No idea if you can input your existing milage. Some you can but not all.

Thank you all for your input which was most helpful. Unfortunately your are correct, once the battery has been removed and replaced you cannot re-enter or recover the old mileage.

Wouldn't the mileage reset itself to zero after 9999 anyway?

Aren't these two different issues... entering a base figure for distance and whether there's nonvolatile memory which allows battery changes?

I'm surprised by this. Does it not maintain settings during a battery change?

It doesn't seem to, & there are no instructions on how to enter the mileage, whereas there are for the wheel size & clock.
