Favourite saying, or quote.
My grandad used to say of mean people 'that man wouldn't give a door a bang'!

My dad jokingly used to say "you can't trust anyone these days except thee and me... ...and I'm not so sure abaet thee "
My own saying rings true "fashion is a master that can never be satisfied"
My elder brother(dead now) used to refer to stupid people as "thicker than black smoke"

My Grandad used to say "Tha's bought a pig in a poke" if someone bought a dodgy car, well they were all a bit dodgy in the 70s
Re: Favourite saying, or quote.
A close friend always used to say " Cheap is Dear". He was an accountant but the saying holds well for most things.
Another one "Why get a dog and bark yourself" especially for those unable to delegate.

Ahah! My idea was to illicit everyday sayings, the kind of pithy, earthy stuff your grandad would come away with. Nothing so high faluting as Nelson Mandela!Vorpal wrote: ↑2 Feb 2022, 12:29pm we previously had a thread on cycling quotes: viewtopic.php?t=79088
my favourite is in my signature
The old boy used to say (when there was a hot day in summer): 'Aye, but we'll pay for it!'
He was a typical Borders farmer, drole and dour!

Well, I think I've posted it on here before, but my mother used to tell me that the one thing she liked about getting older was being able to hide her own Easter Eggs.Slowtwitch wrote: ↑2 Feb 2022, 8:05pm

1) about as good as a one legged man in an **** kickin' contest
2) words are precious, use them wisely
3) 'time's money!, and we've got neither''
4) ''No news is bad news, and bad news is good news!'' (Of course referring the selling of tabloids, and news vs copies sold)
