I've just bought a Giant SCR 1.5 there are other models in your price range. I'm really thrilled with mine, but I do look after it ! if I've been out in the rain I ensure that I oil the chain and sprockets when I get back, I've spent a lot of ££££££'s on it and I want to keep it looking good. If you consider the bike scheme make sure you know the implications of "Salary sacrifice" it can afect things like pension contributions etc, I'm no financial advisor, so make sure it's ok for you.

I think the best advice is pop down to your local LBS and have a chat with them, I'd steer away from the big chains, (if you'll pardon the pun)

Regards and good look

It turns out that my company dont do the official bike to work scheme, they only do loans, which means I wont get the tax saving on the bike....

apparently there's too much admin involved in the official scheme.

Hi.

I recently bought a bad boy 650 for commuting to work and weekend cycling. I have to say that it is one of the nicest bikes I ridden however I did have issues with the brake setup when delivered.

Gear shfting is fast and the range of gears impressive and you can get a pair of MTB wheels if you want to do some MTBing. Nice bike and looks cool.

If you are unsure about what bike to go for but sort of know what type you want, road, hybrid or MTB then why not pop into your local bike shop and ask them what make they would recommend.

Good luck
