The frame on my second hand Volt Metro e bike, recently cracked in the frame hinge area. I found this local company on line.

I took the bike along as arranged and found their Operations Manager, Michael Errington very helpful. We agreed that the best option would be to weld the hinge together.

In two weeks the work was done for £50 including VAT.

The frame is aluminium alloy. Michael indicated that steel frames have also been repaired.

Bike frame repairs are a tiny part of their main business, but in my experience, worth contacting if you need a bike frame welding in this area.

What sort of alu is it, and did they heat-treat it afterwards?
