Hi
I am planning to build a bike using some spares lying around in the garage around a disc cx frame. I have a nearly new pair of (cable) Ultegra 6700 10 speed STIs and was initially planning to pair them with a hybrid cable-hydraulic disc caliper (either Juin Tech R1 or TRP hy/rd).
I fancy incorporating a pair of cyclocross brake levers on the handlebars and would like to know if these would work with hybrid calipers or if anyone has any experience of how good the braking performance of such a set up be.
Also, if anyone has used experience of the Juin Tech vs TRP set up, could you offer advice as to which one is better (I would plan to use compressionless outers unless this is deemed a bad idea with cyclocross levers).
Thanks.

Re: Cyclocross brake levers with cable/hydraulic calipers
I use a pair of the Aliexpress versions of the Juintec ones. Seem fine to me. Any of these interupter levers do add a touch of slack when using the brakes from the main levers although with careful set up it is negligible. The design of the lever is important. Does the pull and leverage match that needed by the caliper. Only experience of a specific combination can tell.
Re: Cyclocross brake levers with cable/hydraulic calipers
I started out with HyRd units on my CX/tour bike, having the cross tops between the Ergo's and caliper didn't make any impact on performance, in fact the brakes worked a bit better through the cross tops!
Convention? what's that then?

My Giant Anyroad came from new with crosstop levers and cable BB5s. Work fine - better than the cable Spyres with just main levers on my Boardman.
Can't see why cable pull hydraulics should react adversely with the extra levers.
