My COVID symptoms were very mild, in pre-pandemic times...

Bad luck, is Covid still worth avoiding? Genuinely interested as I'm struggling to keep out of town! And whilst it's faster to cycle over to the Lake District and so on, the 15 hour round FOC bus journey can still seem easier for a weekend walking!
Re: 10 Miler per Day 2022
Despite resuming running three days a week, still on target with an average of 10.4 miles a day. Total miles so far 887. Ascent 58,940 feet. Time taken 63 hours, which works out an averaged speed of 14 mph.

Re: 10 Miles per Day 2022
Hi,
By Wednesday this week I will be on ten miles a day in 2022
Bad start in january after struggling with stupidly high BP over xmas.
Typical hear rate is just 70-71% of my max HR, over the last three years
In 2013 it was 84%!
I normally would hope to do 80% on the road and 90%+ on the turbo.
Felt rubbish for three years on medication.
But When I stopped meds It goes back to 80% and feel half normal too.
I have managed to half my dose this year and a ride last monday was very encouraging, looking forward to better days.........

Is it possible your max HR may be lower than three years ago?NATURAL ANKLING wrote: ↑9 Apr 2022, 10:42pm Hi,

Re: 10 Miles per Day 2022
Despite having 3 weeks with no riding (1 week building work and 2 weeks with Shingles), a bit or recent stupidity (wearing a supermarket carrier bag with bottom cut open round my chest to cover/protect shingles blisters trying to reduce pain a bit) and end-April I've overall managing 13 miles per day.
But still a lot of short rides and still trying to get my ride distance up (being a bit of a struggle).

Re: 10 Miles per Day 2022
Hi,
13 not bad.
I am of late feeling more confident as my HR average over the last month is up to 75% of my max
And I have set my two fastest times on first half of my training course in the last six months.
I have cut my training course down to exclude two ugly hills in the last six months but did them on friday last with no problem so all good.
I am already thinking of another Devon and Cornwall coast and borders but will increase the miles from 650 to 850 something
I am banking new found fitness that eluded me in 2019 D&C ride, plus a granny chainwheel will allow a higher daily miles without walking
We will see...........
I'm up to 10.3 at presentDavid2504 wrote: ↑10 Apr 2022, 1:26pmIs it possible your max HR may be lower than three years ago?NATURAL ANKLING wrote: ↑9 Apr 2022, 10:42pm Hi,

Re: 10 Miler per Day 2022
I,m sorry to hear about your recovery problems.I ride with a couple of guys who had covid mid march and we did 50mls and 1200mtrs climbing last thurs ,all riding normal speed. We are all 70+ so the suspicion must be you may have long covid.tykeboy2003 wrote: ↑2 Mar 2022, 1:18pm I seem to be struggling so far this year. Last year I did 10 a day finishing on Christmas Eve, that week I was doing 20 a day minimum. Then I got COVID (tested +ve on 27th). After completing my isolation and testing -ve on 2nd Jan, since then I've been out a few times and felt I'd had enough after 15 miles.
Is this a symptom of Long COVID or did I lose all my fitness in just 10 days?
Re: 10 Miles per Day 2022
April has been a weird month for me, best part of a fortnight in the lead up to Easter with no riding at all - nothing wrong, i went up to see my grandson for his birthday and a few days with the rest of the family but without a bike. As a result the monthly mileage is pretty low but i'm holding 38km/day average still.
The other oddness for the month is that my 'touring' bike is off the road waiting some surgery (bb bearings dead but needs a good service too) so i've been using my 'best' bike. Thats encouraged a couple of longer rides, 90/105 miles which have compensated a bit for the lack of rides. I shouldn't be surprised but the rides have been run off @ 20% faster than usual too, averaging over 25kph compared to the usual 20/21kph, that damned bike is silly fast for no extra effort!
Hopefully May will be more 'normal' and i can claw back some of the deficit regarding my tear target of 10k miles.

Convention? what's that then?

Re: 10 Miles per Day 2022
Hi,
*******
Over the last month I have been averaging 19.5 kph......this includes some very slow oldie group rides, but hilly 75'/mile climbing, on my own its 20.6kph.
Bike weighs in at a shade under 1/2 a cwt and has 1.9 inch tyres, route is 40 % off road farm tracks and gritted paths
I normally average over 24kph on the funkie raliegh with 35 mm tyres and 18-22kgs over 270 km
The go faster Raleigh is equipped with wind catching mudguards - aero full rear rack sporting at least one highly efficient wind cheating (a brick) lidl pannier for the sarmies

Re: 10 Miles per Day 2022
Put my first 80 miler in last Sunday and I'm feeling great today. My aim this year is to lose 10lbs and get back into the denims I wore when in was 25.
I'm probably about a third of the way there already

Re: 10 Miles per Day 2022
Does that mean a third of you is now in the denims? I am wondering what third that might be.
I am holding steady at 100 miles a week, but not a lot of climbing in these routes - maybe 2,000 feet. I need to ramp that up but temps are now hitting 90F, so necessitating early morning rides don't allow for much above those miles.
