OK, free-standing, 3 season, partial mesh inner, dual-entry, for use in SE Asia and UK summer

. Reasonable budget.
Any takers?

One person, two people, or plenty of room for one in a tent that will cope with two?

Touring. One person but two person size. Less than Hilleberg-type budget.
Just a few real- life suggestions please. Thanks

Just spent ages looking at tents and finally settled on a Big Agnes Copper Spur Backpacking. We were looking at a three person for two but the extra space you would get would be similar in a two person for one. We have only put it up in the front room so far - it didn’t really fit! First impressions are that it is incredibly roomy with good size vestibules and some great features. As the materials are thin to get the weight low, we also purchased the footprint. The advantage of the backpacking model is the shorter pack size achieved through shorter pole sections.
For us the decision came down to weight against liveable volume. We have a Wild Country Hoolie 3 etc which is enormous and great if we are going somewhere where rain or midges are expected as the ‘kids’ (21&18) can join us for dips, drinks and cards but the payoff is 3.8+kg weight. While we might miss the enormous porch occasionally, we are planning a warmer climes holiday and hopefully will spend more of the evening outside.
We used
https://www.ultralightoutdoorgear.co.uk/ who seemed to be the cheapest, were great with communicating and quick on delivery.
Good luck.

My experiences with MSR (2-person) - not good experiences so recommendation to avoid.

Replaced with Hilleberg (which OP is not looking at) but very happy/impressed with Hilleberg.

My go to brand are Vaude, the Taurus series are self supporting, various models/sizes and i consider the pricing reasonable. I'm mostly using a Power Lizard atm, not self supporting but i don't find thats really an issue, the plus is better ventilation in warm weather plus its lighter for a similar interior space and performance.
Of course you could get away with spending fifty notes on a Chinese no brand from Ebay/Amazon etc that'll probably do the job for a year or two.

We have spent the last 2 years deliberating a tent of the same specifications only a bit bigger than the OP. We have bought 3 tents and sent them back and have finally just ordered a Big Agnes Copper Spur UL 4 for the 3 of us. Arriving any day....
We would have gone for the Copper Spur UL 3 hotel if it was just 2 of us. We watched a good review from 2 girls who took a Copper Spur around the world on bikes and were very happy with it.

Was that Rad Bike Adventure? They helped us decide.
Also good info from

We are on our second light wave trail xt 20.
The first one did about nine years, used in the high mountains trekking and for cycle touring. Been happy with it.

I’m currently researching a new tent for an upcoming trip and have observed that: a) there’s very little stock available at the moment and b) gosh tents have gone up in price over the last couple of years. My last purchase was back in 2018 and the exact same MSR tent now costs 30% more
I’m hoping to find a Copper Spur UL3 available before June, but not all that confident it’ll happen

Try these guys -

We bought a UL3 backpacking from them. The website showed none in stock but I emailed then to let me know when it was in stock and they replied the next day saying they had two! Bought one.
